“I want to ensure that Santia lead the market with both technical quality and IT systems, to help our customers manage asbestos and CDM compliance in the most innovative and efficient way”
Will is responsible for maintaining our UKAS accreditation and technical governance to include the effective implementation of new legislative requirements. This is essential to the delivery of best in class services which meet the highest standards of technical quality. Will’s academic background in Environmental Science and IT combined with his technical knowledge and experience in asbestos management are a formidable combination.
Will has over 15 years’ experience in the asbestos management industry, gaining his initial qualifications and experience as an Analyst, Surveyor and Special Projects Consultant before taking a position as an Asbestos Manager for a local authority. This position enabled Will to gain a client’s perspective on the industry, and as such, he realised that the surveying and analytical work undertaken by many consultancies did not meet the required standards for quality or customer service.
This prompted Will to found his own UKAS accredited asbestos consultancy, First Order Red Ltd, which several years later gained a number of long term contracts with prestigious clients and win multiple awards. First Order Red Ltd also developed a unique technique for fibre discrimination, for which FOR Ltd remains the sole UKAS accredited laboratory in the UK.
Will and his senior team eventually sold the business to Santia Asbestos Management Ltd in 2013 to become an integral part of a national consultancy. As a critical member of the Board, Will uses his in-depth technical knowledge, leadership skills, understanding of customer value and business acumen to lead and further develop Santia to consistently deliver a best in class service.

“My aim is to ensure that our customers receive the best advice and training to help them fulfil their legal duties”
John has nearly 40 years of technical experience in the field of occupational health and safety, specialising in asbestos management for the last 20 years. John is considered a UK expert on asbestos management because of his depth of knowledge, experience and longevity in the field. John has held senior positions at Santia and its former companies for 31 years, including Major Projects Director and Consultancy and Training Director.
John provides expert technical advice and support for our customers, helping them comply with their legal duties in accordance with the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012. Some of our customers first approach Santia to seek advice in situations where they suspect a potential breach of their duty to manage. In this situation John can advise and work with the organisation as an enforcement liaison. This approach has resulted in the avoidance of prosecution and enforcement notices. John has also provided expert witness testimony in legal cases regarding asbestos and other occupational hygiene issues.
As part of our training practice, John delivers our UKATA and BOHS approved courses and works with our customers to develop bespoke training solutions. The combination of his professional teaching experience and his depth of technical knowledge ensures that our delegates receive a comprehensive and engaging learning experience, as John is able to draw upon real examples of challenges faced by clients when managing asbestos and how they have overcome them.
Prior to joining the asbestos management industry, John held several positions within the Environmental Health Department of a Local Authority, including Principal Officer for Health, Safety and Environment, Senior Officer and Pollution Control Officer. Before joining the local authority, John began his career as a Science Master at a comprehensive school.
